Hyper- and hypotonicity can have a significant impact on the laryngectomy patient’s ability to speak and their quality of life. Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hyper- and hypotonicity to achieve optimal voice outcomes and voice-related quality of life requires a multidisciplinary team approach. This webinar provides an overview of surgical techniques to prevent their occurrence and solutions for diagnosis and treatment. It describes and discusses specific surgical techniques, diagnostic procedures and comprehensive therapeutic approaches including voice therapy, videofluoroscopy and the injection of botulinum toxin.
