The GPRA courses are organized by the Head and neck team of the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Antoni van Leeuwenhoek) in Amsterdam and several sites worldwide. Shorter courses and webinars are offered online. More information about each course and the virtual program can be found in the course tab.
The online program has been adapted to offer an engaging, interactive and inspiring experience in a reduced number of hours, including surgical video's, and ample time for discussion and Q&A. The registration fee has been reduced and the number of participants per course will remain limited to allow for personal interaction with the other participants and the presenters.
As this is a course accredited by the Dutch ENT association (9 CPD points) course certificates can only be issued to participants who have attended the course in full. In exceptional circumstances, certificates may be issued for fewer points.
To allow for hands-on practice even in the online courses, the participants will receive a 'classroom kit' prior to the course, which will be theirs to keep.

Although the goal of every clinician is to preserve organ and organ function with laryngeal and hypo pharyngeal cancer patients, total laryngectomy is still unavoidable in patients with advanced and recurrent disease. The quality of life following a total laryngectomy can be quite good, but is very much dependent on rehabilitation efforts. Over the last several decades considerable progress in voice, pulmonary and olfaction rehabilitation of the total laryngectomy patient has been made.
To improve worldwide expertise, the Global Postlaryngectomy Rehabilitation Academy (GPR Academy) was founded by Prof. Frans Hilgers of the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam to teach on rehabilitation in 2009. Using the experience and research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a base, the GPRA will bring the latest thinking, techniques and clinical evidence to a global audience. The GPRA will conduct multiple courses throughout the world presented by a team of internationally recognized experts. It is sponsored by Atos Medical.
Who should attend? Otolaryngologists/Head and Neck Surgeons, Residents, Speech-Language Pathologists, Head and Neck Oncology nurses and anyone interested in expanding their clinical knowledge of the laryngectomized patient.
Prof. Dr. Michiel WM van den Brekel, organizer
