GENERAL PROGRAM


1st Day:*

  • Introduction to comprehensive postlaryngectomy rehabilitation and basic aspects of the standard indwelling voice prosthesis (Provox2)
  • Hands-on session, practicing voice prosthesis replacement and use of accessories**
  • Surgical techniques
  • Speech therapy introduction and patient demonstration
  • Out patient clinic patient demonstration
  • Results of prosthetic voice rehabilitation in the host clinic
  • Long term results and adverse events/trouble shooting
  • Olfaction rehabilitation
Course dinner

2nd Day:*

  • Demonstration of total laryngectomy and primary tracheoesophageal puncture (either live surgery or cadaver dissection) and the surgical refinements optimizing vocal rehabilitation
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation; basic physiology research
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation; clinical research; hands-free speech
  • Hands-on session, practicing with HME’s, stoma valves/appliances**; patient demonstration
  • Re-evaluation back ground knowledge with structured multiple choice questionnaires, giving the opportunity to personally check improvements; closing remarks and hand-out of certificates

Each center is responsible for their course, including fees and course details. All details will be enclosed in the confirmation letter which will be sent after course application.

Hotel and travel costs are not included in the course fee.

The official language of the course is English.

Accreditation:
CME accreditation will be applied for by the local organizers (e.g. for the Netherlands, the Dutch Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery has accredited the course with 13 CME points).
