LOCAL PROGRAM
This two day course is composed of four sessions each including a series of lectures followed by cadaveric demonstrations and supervised dissections.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to comprehensive postlaryngectomy rehabilitation
  • Basic aspects of the standard indwelling voice prosthesis (Provox 2)
  • Hands-on session, practicing voice prosthesis replacement and use of accessories
  • Speech therapy introduction and patient demonstration
  • Olfaction rehabilitation introduction and patient demonstration
  • Out patient clinic patient demonstration
  • Surgical techniques
  • Long term results and adverse events/trouble shooting
  • Cadaver dissection total laryngectomy with primary TEP etc.
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation; basic physiology research
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation; clinical research; hands free speech
  • Hands-on session, practicing with HMEs, stoma valves and appliances patient demonstration
